The Blessing at Goodbye
Opening
Worship services close with a benediction. “Bene” is a word for good and “diction” is a word for speech. It is a word of blessing at goodbye
We are fascinated as a people with the language of “blessing”. Pop culture uses the word and at times misappropriate it at times.
Presidents at the beginning of their terms ask priests to come and “bless” them. People will ask pastors to come and “bless” their businesses and home with God’s protection and favor
Culture says “I’m blessed and highly favored”. In our culture it has become empty words and ordinary cliche
The benediction is meant to be a bridge of the aww of worship and carry into your work week.
