  • Worship services close with a benediction. “Bene” is a word for good and “diction” is a word for speech. It is a word of blessing at goodbye

  • We are fascinated as a people with the language of “blessing”. Pop culture uses the word and at times misappropriate it at times. 

  • Presidents at the beginning of their terms ask priests to come and “bless” them. People will ask pastors to come and “bless” their businesses and home with God’s protection and favor

  • Culture says “I’m blessed and highly favored”. In our culture it has become empty words and ordinary cliche 

  • The benediction is meant to be a bridge of the aww of worship and carry into your work week. 

  • God Get The Last Word

  • God has a word of blessing not burden…..A word of reward not robbery……A word of gifting over your life

  • Numbers 6:24- “The Lord bless you, and keep you;”

  • The Nazirites vow- People consecrated their lives to the special priestly functions of the Lord. 

  • God spoke to Moses to speak with Aaron and his sons. They were instructed to bless God’s people in this way. Numbers 6:24-26

  • God has appointed certain people to stand in front of his people to pronounce his blessing on them. 

  • God is speaking his will over your life through his person

  • The benediction is a blessing of protection, provision, and possession 

  • When you receive the benediction you expecting God to do what only God can do in your life

  • When God repeats himself 3 times he is trying to get you to pay attention to something important: The Lord bless you….The Lord cause His face to shine on you…..The Lord lift up His face to you

  • Your blessings only comes from 1 source……The Lord 

  • The bible says every good and perfect gift come from the Lord 

  • God is telling you something about his character when he announces his name 

  • God lives outside of time and space 

  • The first line of every verse speaks to affection for you. The second lines speaks to his action towards you

  • The text is saying God is a blessing God. He can bless you in material and immaterial ways. The text says God wants to “bless you”

  • When God wants to bless you, he is able to bless you with things you can never buy

  • We should thank God for the stuff he has gave us 

  • The text says he not only bless your life but protect your life as well

  • He is a keeper and diligently watches over and guides you. He is protecting you from the evil in the world

  • Peace is when chaos going on around you but you are standing on a rock. Jesus is your PEACE!
